Notes: One of the things God wants us to do is to humble ourselves. God has put the Blessing Plan on us. He has a purpose and a way, and He wants to bless His children and see us on high, but the plan is on us. You must meet the requirements that He has for us. Many times we want to do things our way. The key to receiving the blessing is to follow His plan, and remembering all of God’s promises are based on conditions.
If you expect God to be a blessing to you, you will have to get over yourself. You can overcome the devil if you can overcome yourself. Paul had to humble himself so that he can allow the Spirit of God to have free course. Stop blaming others for your lack of progress and take a good look at yourself. You are your biggest hindrance. Tell yourself – I am coming out of this situation, scenario, issue – just like the Prodigal Son, who came to himself while in a hog pen. We would like to be the greatest, but we have to realize that whatever we do and accomplish we can’t do it without God. We need Him to pick us up.
Humble yourself and say “I can’t do it; I need the help of the Lord,” and turn that thing over to the Lord. Stop trying to figure things out on your own and acknowledge that you need the Lord. God wants us to get ourselves out of the way. Once you do that you’ll be able to get somewhere. To humble yourself is to deny yourself – as Jesus told the rich, young ruler. Get yourself out of the way so you can move forward. Jesus told the disciples that unless they became like little children they would not enter the kingdom of heaven. “Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven (Matt 18:4).” Humility is the key. Do it because God said “Do it.”
The first key – Deny yourself
If you want to hear from heaven, if you want God to heal you, deliver you or come to your rescue you have to humble yourself.
The second key – Get on your knees
Every now and then you have to get in place, and just stay there for a little while. Say “Lord, I need you to help me.” Lay prostrate, stand – do whatever you have to do and He will hear you. Don’t make any excuses, just pray.
The third key – Seek His face
To seek means to search. It takes dedication. Look for the Lord until you find Him. If you don’t see Him, keep seeking. After you humble yourself, pray and seek turn from your wicked ways.
The fourth key – Lose yourself
Turn yourself over to God and ask Him to search you for any wicked ways. He can see what you can’t see. If you don’t want to be saved and not lost ask Him.
People want to be blessed, but they don’t want to do what they have to do to follow the plan of God. God wants to bless us. He wants to bring us out, but you have to meet the criteria. “And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing (Eze 34:26).” Tell yourself that you have to seek God, be saved and be humbled. You don’t want God to humble you, because we don’t know how He is going to do it. Don’t wait to come to God until it’s too late.
