Because He rose, we rise.

God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.

Everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life.

1 Corinthians 6:14

God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.

Romans 8:11

He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Romans 6:4

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death that we too might walk in the newness of life.

Luke 14:14

And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.

According to his great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Where was God on 9/11? #neverforget

The cross at the World Trade Center

God is always in control and our calamities are not lost on Him. He is the epitome of goodness, and in His sovereignty He allows us to be human and make choices. We can choose to follow Him, or we can choose to sin.

On 9/11, when terrorists targeted the United States, He was there to console, not control. We have to be responsible for our decisions, especially if we don’t choose Him. Choosing God is to choose love. If the terrorists had chosen love 9/11 would probably look a whole lot different today.

Remember, God loves us. He is a high priest that feels our pain, and His ultimate display of grace and love was at the cross, where Jesus died for our sins.

10 ways God shows His love for us!

In honor of Valentine’s Day, we put together a list that shows God’s love for us in the scriptures (mostly described by the apostle John in the English Standard Version). The ultimate proof lies at the cross and, of course, in your personal testimony. And if you don’t think you have a personal testimony of God’s love, just seek Him and wait — it’s sure to come. Without further ado, a look at the ways God shows His love for me and you:

1. Christ died for us
God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

2. We are more than conquerors
In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:37)

3. He quiets us and exults over us
The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. (Zephaniah 3:17)

4. He is looking out for us
“You are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. Fear not, for I am with you.” (Isaiah 43:4-5)

5. He enables us to love
We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

6. He gives us benefits
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (Psalm 103:2-5) (more…)

How to prevent identity theft

Image

The Youth and Young Adult Ministry discussed how to prevent identity theft at the January Milk 2 Meat. These are four preventative measures for protecting your identity from an enemy who seeks to steal, kill and destroy your life.

1. Put on your spiritual armour by giving God glory and getting in His word.

2. Hide the Word in your heart that “I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119). The Word is your treasure.

3. If you find yourself victimized — repent quickly and get back in fellowship with God. Ask the Lord to “create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.”

4. Be ready to walk in liberty. When the enemy returns he should meet a new you. Be prepared to not fall the same way you fell before.

Prayer for 2014 is that we would know who we are and not have our identities stolen from us and that we would activate the word of God.

Words to help give thanks to God

image

Every day is Thanksgiving as we remember to give God thanks. Sometimes we do not realize that just waking up in the morning is a gift from God. So let us take the time to say, “Thank you” as often as possible.

1. 1 Chronicles 16:34
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

2. Romans 14:6
He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

3. I Corinthians 15:57
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

4. I Thessalonians 5:18
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

5. 1 Chronicles 16:35
And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.

God is calling you to have FaceTime with Him!

Image

Sis. Finger preached during the Youth Service of the November District Council and here are a few points from the “simple message” that the Lord shared with her that referenced the Apple iOS app that allows you to make video calls.

WHAT: God is calling us to deeper intimacy with Him!
WHO: Anyone who feels the tug
WHY: Because of the lateness of the hour. Don’t miss your appointment with God. In your dreams and prayer, there is opportunity to spend FaceTime with God. (Exodus 24)

When God calls, will you answer?
