Resurrection

7 reasons why Resurrection Sunday (Easter) matters

Because He rose, we rise.

1 Thessalonians 4:14

God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.

John 6:40

Everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life.

1 Corinthians 6:14

God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.

Romans 8:11

He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Romans 6:4

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death that we too might walk in the newness of life.

Luke 14:14

And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.

1 Peter 1:3

According to his great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

He is already risen!

After they received the message that Jesus was risen, they became the messenger to tell others. Some, like Thomas, don’t believe until they see.

We, likewise, have a responsibility to tell others that Jesus got up. We are supposed to be believers and let others know that Jesus is who He is and will do what He said He would do.

God’s word is being fulfilled every day. The scripture says that in the last days, some will depart from the faith and it is happening. But we are follow the command of God and “save yourselves” from this untoward generation. Jesus was not murdered. He VOLUNTARILY gave up His life. (more…)

Come Up Here!

John 5:24-25; John 11:43; Rev 4:1
You can’t hear “Well done thy good and faithful servant” until you hear “Come up Here.”

John 5:19
What is my father doing? If the spirit doesn’t work, then I can’t work. If the spirit doesn’t encourage then I can’t encourage.

Only the dead in Christ will hear “Come up here.”
There is tribulation in this life. Be prepared for battle.
People are starting to turn their backs on the church all together because they don’t see the proof that God is real.

Three things the Bible does:
1. Brings the knowledge of God, not to debate each other
2. Tells us what God is doing…His purpose
3. Bring to us the power of God…He can do anything!

Take your faith another step. God will resurrect this body. Though this outward man perish (never gets healed/delivered), yet the inward man is renewed day by day. (2 Corinthians 4:16)

If God doesn’t answer there is a reason. God had to let Lazurus die because God had done many miracles and the people were still unbelieving. God needs you to go through so He could get the glory.

Matthew followed God on command.
Look back on what God has already done. Wait on the Lord and set your affections on things above.

We have to show the world who the true church is.

Whosover calls on the name of the Lord….what will it take for us to believe God? Do we have to go through so many trials? How long will it take for us to get in our minds to trust God and to serve Him?

Jesus wanted His disciples to know that He is the resurrection and that He had to go away to send another comforter.
See yourself resurrected in Jesus after your trials are over.
Only the spirit of God will hear the beckoning voice of God. You need the Holy Ghost in you!

It takes dedication and commitment. We have to obey. Obedience is better than sacrifice.

Recap of the sermon on the ‘Better resurrection’

Samuelatgilgal's WP blog.

Here is a brief recap of the lesson on Easter Sunday. Bishop Pendleton preached out of Mark 16: 1-8.

Background: ‘He is risen’
-Jesus Christ was crucified about 9 a.m. in the morning with two theives, but He had to go through what He went through to redeem His people from their sins.
-They tried to make Him look bad by identifying Him with criminals, but the purpose of God will always be accomplished. Soldiers even cast lots for His garments in fulfillment of the scripture in Psalm 22:18 (They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.)
-After His crucifixion, the Marys arrived to wash His body, but found the heavy stone (heavy enough to ward off grave robbers and wild animals) was pushed back by an earthquake (read Matthew’s synopsis of the resurrection in Chapter 28).
-The angel there had this word: “Don’t be afraid; He is risen,” and sent them off as messengers.
-Now it is our responsibility to share the resurrection message with others.

Message: Get buried with Him
-Jesus rose for a purpose, and the church has a mandate to tell about the life, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior. Are you glad about the Good News?
-We have to start preparing ourselves for His coming. Today is the day of salvation; time for us to accept what the Word of God has declared unto us.
-There may be stones in your life that need to be removed, but God is all-powerful and can remove any stone. He is able to do exceeding abudantly above all we are able to ask and think.

Easter facts: What have you always wondered?

At Grace Apostolic Church we mark Resurrection Sunday, also known as Easter, which is almost upon us. Here are a few facts to feast on about this major annual Christian holiday that celebrates the foundation of our faith — Jesus Christ’s resurrection three days after his crucifixion:

-The chronology. There are conflicting theories on this. Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection is variously interpreted to be between AD 26 and AD 36 — AD is Anno Domini which is Latin for In the Year of our Lord. However, Easter is usually calculated in accordance with the Spring Equinox, which we observe on March 20, also the first day of spring. Computus, Latin for computation, is the calculation of the date in the Christian calendar. It is one of the most important computations of the age (Wikipedia).
-The term. This is also a source of contention. The origins of the word “Easter” probably derive from Estre or Eastre, either an Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring or the ancient word for spring. (more…)
