walk

Bishop: Walk with God!

Genesis 5:22-24 KJV

And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

What exactly does walking with God entail? To walk with God is to comply with His will. God’s will is for us to walk with him, to serve Him, to love Him and to love others.

Everything we need to know concerning our walk with Christ is found in the word of God. The word comes to lead, guide, direct, and correct us. As followers of Christ, our main endeavor is to please God. To do that, we must be willing to live holy lives.

1 John 1:5-7 KJV

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

We can’t walk with God except we agree to follow His commands and to let Him lead us.

Ephesians 5:1-2 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us,

Walking with God also involves showing love to others, regardless of whether that love is reciprocated. Love covers a multitude of wrongs. (1 Peter 4:5) So, in the face of many the offenses that we might face from others people, we must remain consistent in our love for one another. When we resist the temptation to step out of love or to change others to meet our standards, we give God the opportunity to mold them to fit His design for their lives.

Romans 12:9-10 KJV

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

In other words, let your love be real!

If we want to let God be glorified in us, we have to live according to His word and let Him guide us to fulfill His will for our lives.

Every child of God ought to have a goal

Scripture: Philippians 3:7-14

Notes: Every child of God has a goal and we should work towards eternity with Jesus, but we need to bear in mind that there is an opposition and we will need to fight to attain our goal. Every time you turn around it seems like something is going on and it can bring you discouragement. Even David said his feet almost slipped looking at the prosperity of others. Some folks running fast, slow and not at all and it’s up to us to decide where we fit. Are you running at half speed?

Pressing toward the mark… Apostle Paul decided to put those things behind to move forward. He set an example and admonished us to get past the things that are hindering us and to press toward the mark. This life takes a press, a fight, and when we get to a point where it looks like we’re not going to get there we need to keep fighting. (more…)

Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.
